Space Crabs?
The Crab Nebula is the first star observed to supernova in human history.
The bright light in the sky was first witnessed by Chinese and Islamic astronomers in 1054 and observed again much later by English astronomer John Bevis in 1731. It was an even later drawing by astronomer William Parsons that gave the nebula its name - as it looked a little bit like a crab - imaginative right?
It is currently expanding at 1500km per second and is around 6500 light years away from earth so we’re safe from being absorbed by it, if you were concerned.
